Azar A. H. Khan
Ambassador of India to Turkmenistan
Mr. Khan, a career diplomat, assumed his responsibilities as the Ambassador of India to Turkmenistan in January 2018. He served as Ambassador of India to Libya and High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Malta and Consul General of India in Istanbul.
He worked in different capacities in the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi and India’s Missions abroad in Brunei, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, Egypt, Libya, and Malta. He was Charge de’ Affaires in Ukraine, Brunei and Saudi Arabia. Ambassador Khan has handled matters pertaining to countries of West Asia & North Africa, Gulf and the Middle East, Mediterranean Forum, Arab Maghreb Union and ASEAN Regional Forum.
His assignments include the setting up of an Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO)’s Telemetry, Tracking and Command Centre in Brunei, evacuation of the Indian nationals from Libya in 2011, 2014 and 2015. Ambassador Khan holds a post graduate degree from the University of Delhi.
